MOJO

I have just returned from a BUS SHOP HOP! We visited 7 shops, 3 states an overnight hotel stay and lots of wonder food. Imagine a 50 passenger bus of nothing but quilting women, breathing the same air and making new friends.
After about 2 years of not sewing or quilting much, I am starting to think the MOJO is back! I have so, many ideas in my head, I may not sleep for a week. Swiped that old credit car tooooo many, SO Guess who will be working more overtime for a while. You know doing penance, to pay down that credit card before Christmas shopping or frantically sewing quilty gifts! BUT I had a ball doing the damage!

How to plan an 80th birthday PARTY

WOW! I didn't realize it had been so many months since I started this.
Life has been crazy both job/ and family. I work for a huge airline as a reservation agent from a snowy winter, to a Valcano in Europe, and then throw a bit better economy as a world of people who all decide to travel........ ANYWAY that all equals LOTS of overtime and weeks with 0 Days off!

Last May my MOM, celebrated her 80th birthday.... Well we decided she needed a party so we planned and planned and planned some more. We almosted pulled it off as a surprise, but decided that is might not be such a good idea and revealed the secret.
Firstly NONE of us travel in the same social circle as my mom and her boyfriend(who by the way is only 86). The Hit every senior citizen dance they can find! SO we had NO ideas when we ran an invitation in the small community newspaper, what to expect, so we planned high and thought maybe a 100-150. Best to be prepared. So we ordered the chicken ( a grandson works for a company who sells broaster, and was able to borrow the show trailer equipped with broasters) Decide we could make a few salads, desserts and ordered a cake, sounded pretty easy.
Of course I forgot to mention she's lived in the same community for 80 years, and is well known for her AWESOME cooking and baking. She spend a lifetime preparing BIG feasts for farm hands!
To make a long story short...... we had hired their favorite dance band, so word spread fast. We served about 250 friends, family and dancers. Needless to say, the last maybe 30 people got chicken and cake, but they loved the chicken!
She Had an awesome day! It was the first birthday party she had ever had. I will never forget the wonderful tribute and the memories that was made to her on her special day. She was so moved by the honor she received. My favorite part is that SHE IS MY MOM! So never forget to celebrate and make some memories!

Baby quilt

Starting to make time to sew/quilt daily. This is a baby quilt made for a new grand-nephew a year ago.
I have been very busy working on several SUNSHINE QUILTS for my local guild. We supply quilts to various groups to give to children or families in crisis. I will post completed phots when quilted.

Finally feeling motivated after several months of unproductivity! YEAH! Just in time to lose sewing time to the green stuff growing in the yard!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

It's all about me!

I started quilting 15 years ago. My friend Melody took me under her wing to get started! She must have known I would only like compicated patterns, and my first quilt was an OHIO STAR, and I have never looked back.
I have had a background in sewing clothing, knitting, crocheting and cross stitch, sarting at the age of 8. Quilting is my all time favorite!
In 1999 I was lucky enough to find a used APQS Ultimate, the machine was in great shape and affordable, unfortunately with working fulltime, she sits lonely in the basement patiently waiting! lol

All 5 grandkids own 1 or more quilts from Grammie, and love them!

A short day @ work today so off I go to SEW! Yeah
